Skopje, February 15 — The President of the Assembly, Jovan Mitreski, announced yesterday that the presidential elections will be held on April 24, 2024, and that the parliamentary elections will be held on May 8, 2024.
The first round of the seventh Macedonian presidential election will take place on April 24 (Wednesday), while the second round will be held two weeks later, on May 8. On the same day as the second round of the presidential elections (May 8), the country will also hold its 11th parliamentary elections.
Mitreski stated that he expects all the relevant institutions and all the bodies involved to contribute to a fair and democratic process in the forthcoming electoral period.
"The Republic of North Macedonia has shown in the past election cycles that it is capable of organizing democratic elections in accordance with European values and principles. In the past election cycles, we have set standards that we only need to improve and build on, but we cannot allow ourselves to go backwards. The opportunity for citizens to express their opinion by voting is the highest act of democracy", Mitreski said.
The State Election Commission previously announced that the election campaign for the parliamentary elections will begin on April 18 at 00:00 and end on May 6 at 24:00.
