Gordana Siljanovska Davkova and Stevo Pendarovski to face off in the second round of Presidential Elections on May 8


Election process

Skopje, April 25 — Presidential candidates Gordana Siljanovska Davkova and Stevo Pendarovski will compete in the second round of the presidential elections, which will be held on May 8 along with the parliamentary elections.


According to the results of 3,391 counted polling stations out of 3,508, Siljanovska Davkova won 352,868 votes, twice as many as Pendarovski who won 175,413 votes.

 

They received the most votes in today's elections, in which around 48.38% of voters took part until 6:30 PM. To win the first round, one of the candidates had to win over 50% of the votes of all registered voters on the electoral roll.

 

The election day was generally peaceful. Voting took place from 7 am to 7 pm.

 

The presidential elections were observed by 568 international and 342 local observers and 32 foreign journalists.

 

In addition to Pendarovski and Siljanovska, citizens could also choose between Stevco Jakimovski from the "Brave for Macedonia" coalition, Bujar Osmani from the "European Front" coalition, Biljana Vankovska, supported by The Left, Arben Taravari from the "Worth it" coalition and Maxim Dimtirievski from ZNAM (For Our Macedonia).
