Skopje, September 20 — The Government has announced that the prices for 24 categories of food products will be reduced.
Food products will be sold at their August 1st prices, but with a 10% reduction in the retail trade.
The decision enters into force the following day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Retailers are required to clearly mark the products with the inscription "guaranteed price” (македонски: Гарантирана цена).
The price reductions apply to the following products:
White rice, packaged in quantities ranging from 900 g to 1 kg;
Wheat flour - type 400 and type 500;
White and semi-white bread, loaf, industrial type, weighing 450 g (whole and in slices), with the exception of freshly baked bread in markets;
Other bakery products;
"Petit Beurre" biscuits and plain and lean biscuits from 300 to 500 g;
Wafers, with cocoa cream filling (plain) from 300 to 500 g;
Pasta (macaroni and spaghetti from durum wheat, regular) without and with eggs, weighing 500 g;
Beef without bones, beef shank or any other part
Pork meat without bones, pork hind leg or any other part;
Minced pork and beef;
Fresh or frozen chicken (whole);
Chicken steak fresh or frozen;
Teewurst (veal, pork and beef) without additives, and without slice packaging;
Chicken special salami (without slice packaging);
Liver and chicken pâté (without additives) in 95 and 100 g packages;
Shelf-stable milk (except organic milk and milk with additives) with fat content of 2.8%, 3.2% and 3.5% in 1 liter-packages;
Cow's milk plain yogurt (without additives) with fat content ranging of 2.8% to 3.2%, in packages of 1 l and 1.5 l;
Sour cow's milk (without additives) with fat content of 2.8% and 3.2% in a package of 300 to 500 g;
Sour cream from cow's milk with a fat content of 12% to 20%, in packaging of 180 or 200 g;
Traditional cow's white cheese and mixed white cheese (without additives).
Traditional cow cheese and mixed cheese (without additives);
Fresh chicken eggs;
Fresh fruit and
Fresh vegetables.
The purpose of this Government's decision is to prevent further disruptions in the market and remove the harmful consequences of market disruptions, in terms of supplying the population with basic food products.
The decision is valid until November 30.
