Skopje hit record 43.7°C on July 26

Skopje, August 4 — A temperature of 43.7°C was recorded at AMS Gazi Baba, Skopje, on July 26, breaking the city's previous all-time high of 43.4°C, set 18 years ago in July 2007.
According to the National Hydrometeorological Service (UHMR), absolute maximum temperatures were also exceeded in Ohrid and Mavrovo, rising from 37.5°C to 38.1°C in Ohrid, and from 34.2°C to 34.3°C in Mavrovo.
UHMR also noted the occurrence of heatwaves across the country from July 1 to 8, and again from July 20 to 27.
Compared to the thirty-year average for July (1991–2020), this year’s nationwide temperature was 2.3°C above average, according to UHMR's Monthly Climatological Report.
Based on measurements and observations from weather stations across Macedonia, July was marked as extremely hot and very dry compared to long-term averages (1991/20).
