Skopje, December 20 — Lights, decorations, a Christmas tree and mini-wooden houses for a bazaar that have not yet started working, have been set up in the center of Skopje in recent days on the eve of the New Year holidays.
30,000 euros will be spent on decorating the city, the City of Skopje announced.
Before the decoration process, numerous users on social networks criticized why Skopje is not yet decorated on the eve of the holidays.
Immediately after, the city authorities announced that the city will be decorated, denying the claims of the media and citizens.
"The city of Skopje will be decorated again this year, but for a drastically lower amount than what has been spent every year on decorating the city through questionable public procurements", they stated out.
However, there is no information yet on whether there will be an organized New Year's Eve party in the central square and who will perform, which is a tradition for years.
Skopje.IN has sent questions to the City of Skopje, but as of the publication of this article, we have not received a response from the city authorities.
Last year, the New Year celebration in the central square was self-initiated by a group of musicians.
