Macedonia attracts 101,000 foreign tourists in May

Skopje, July 15 — Macedonia recorded a total of 130,739 tourists in May, according to data from the State Statistical Office (SSO). Of these, 77.6% (101,461) were foreign visitors, while 22.4% (29,277) were domestic tourists.
The majority of foreign tourists came from Turkey (28,338), followed by Germany (15,166), France (6,059), and Serbia (5,942).
A total of 231,313 overnight stays were recorded during the month, with 71.2% by foreign tourists and 28.8% by domestic visitors.
Between January and May, the total number of tourists increased by 16.3% compared to the same period last year. While domestic tourism saw a slight decline of 1%, the number of foreign visitors rose by 23.6%.
Since the start of the year, Macedonia has recorded 394,446 tourists, 294,509 of them foreign visitors.
